Department of Communication Studies
Communication Degree
The BS or BA in Communication without a concentration allows students to choose classes based on their variety of interests. Students have freedom to create their own program of study in the discipline, combining classes from all concentrations to graduate with a well-rounded education in Communication. All classes in the major utilize and build on concepts, theories, and methods of study covered in the core communication classes. These experiences prepare students for success in a variety of fields including ministry, business administration, education, human resources, law, recruiting, and many more.
What We’re Doing
Sharing Knowledge Through Conference Presentations
Dr. Amy Aldridge presents research on the “Future of the Communication Discipline” at the 2023 Central States Communication Association. Communication Studies’ faculty present research at conferences as well as publish peer-reviewed articles to stay abreast of the latest trends in the discipline as well as create knowledge to share. We use this information to give our classes the most up-to-date information.

Providing Opportunities for Students to Connect
Students in our Communication Studies Club put on a scavenger hunt for new and current students. It was a way to meet new people and get to know more about campus.
